Sion Build (AP)

Introduction

I don’t have a “Main”, but you could say Sion is my best champion.

Summoner Spells

For Sion, I like to bring Flash and Ghost. Mobility is amazing for Sion because you need to be close to someone to hit them with your shield.

Masteries

21 in utility helps with movement speed, cooldowns, and mp5. 21 in utility benefits Sion a lot.

Runes

For Quints I have movement speed because it helps when you can catch up to someone and shield/stun them.

For yellows and blues I have mana per 5/lvl because Sion is a farming machine. You need to have mana to constantly blow up minion waves.

For reds I have magic pen because they help. Early game your skills could do close to true damage because with enough magic pen you could cancel out their magic resist at level 1.

Items

I like to start with a dorans ring because it helps with early game burst. Before I finish sorcerer shoes, I like to get boots of speed and blasting wand or needless large rod first. Getting one of those early on can help you clear waves fast for farm. I finish sorcerer shoes before finishing Rabadon’s.

My build is: Sorcerer shoes, Rabadon’s deathcap, Lich Bane, Void Staff, and Situational tank items.

Please do not buy sheen early on like bad Sion’s do. Sheen does not benefit you early on like it does for AD Sion. When I build Lich Bane, I usually build the sheen after the blasting wand. You don’t need other AP items after void staff besides maybe Zhonya’s hourglass because with Void Staff you have a lot of Magic Pen.

Skills

W>Q>E>R

At level 1 I start with Q for an early game gank. Level 2 I get W and level 3 I get E. After that I max W, then Q, then E. I only grab R at level 6 because you won’t need it much for AP sion, but having it at level 1 will be pretty good. Maxing E before R is good because having more AD adds on to your Lich Bane auto attack damage. Maxing W first is better than maxing Q first because W does more damage and it is AoE damage. Also, maxing Q first does not make your stun last longer so it’s better to max W.

Conclusion

I’ve carried pretty much carried all my games with Sion because it is easy to farm. Even if your team is losing, you can farm easily because you clear waves with your W.

Garen Build

Introduction

People think that Garen has been nerfed too hard and he’s completely useless. He’s not useless at all and with my build you will completely dominate.

Summoner Spells

I like to bring Ignite and Ghost. Ghost is self explanatory. Movement speed + Garen = profit. You might think I’m really weird for bringing Ignite, but listen up. Don’t you hate using your ult on someone and leaving them with like 10 hp? If you ignite them and ult, it will take care of that problem. It also helps for early game damage.

Masteries

I like to take 21 in offense because his W makes him take 20% less damage at rank 1. 21 in offense also makes his spin crazily strong early-mid game. It gives extra crit damage and more armor pen so he will be really strong. I take 9 in utility for the EXP boost.

Runes

For Quints, I like to get 3 movement speed ones to help you catch up to people with your spin.

For Yellows, I like armor. I don’t really like getting dodge because dodge is a lot more situational than armor. Armor reduces the damage of physical damage skills. Dodge would be useless against “AD Casters”

For Blues, I like magic resist to be more tanky against magic damage champions

For Reds, I get armor pen to make the spin strong.

Items

My build is pretty unique. This is sort of a “Solo Queue Build” because you can’t really be your main tank early game with my build.

I start off with boots and 3 pots because movement speed is really good with the spin.

I usually finish the game off with Boots of Swiftness, Sunfire Cape, Infinity Edge, Force of Nature, Guardian Angel, (Situational Item)

I get Boots of Swiftness because the more movement speed you have, the more you can stay on top of someone and keep damaging them with spin and Sunfire cape.

Sunfire Cape is an amazing item for Garen since his damage comes mostly from staying on top of someone.

You might be thinking that I’m an idiot for buying Infinity Edge. Infinity Edge works really well on Garen because it gives him damage, crit, and crit damage. His spin can crit so this is the PERFECT item for Garen if you want to do a lot of damage. People usually like to build Garen full tank, but not me. I like to add some spice and get Infinity Edge and do A LOT of damage.

Force of Nature is good because it makes you more tanky, more hp regen, and movement speed. Again, movement speed is awesome for Garen.

Guardian Angel is pretty much good on everyone. Armor, MR, revive.

For situational item, I mean situational as in an Armor item or MR item. Build an armor item against a physical damage team or MR item against a magic damage team.

Late game you could sell the infinity edge and get another one of those situational items because later in the game you probably won’t be able to do much damage to tanks and squishies won’t be that squishy anymore. In my opinion, late game Garen is good for tanking, silencing, and finishing the kill.

Skills

R>E>Q>W

At level 1 I get E, level 2, Q, level 3 E, level 4, W, then I max E, then Q, then W while getting R whenever I can. Many people max W after E because some people take Q as just a skill for chasing. Maxing Q 2nd will add to your damage output so I like to get it before W. As you an probably tell, I love playing high damage Garen.

Conclusion

Garen is very underrated because people think he has been nerfed too hard. With this build you could destroy people early-mid game. With this build you’ll be surprised how much damage Garen can do.

For New Players

If you just started playing League of Legends and a friend introduced you to League of Legends, I’d say to listen to everything they say until you have a clear grasp of the game. I’ve had a couple of new friends that just started playing League of Legends and I will share with you my experiences. These are friends I know IRL and their personalities and playstyles.

“Selfish Playstyle”

So I have a friend whose playstyle is the “selfish” one. He is the kind that steals every kill. I’m not talking about the common 5v1 spell spam on one person and the worst player gets the kill. I’m talking about a 2v1 fight when the more experienced player is doing most of the work/damage and the new player saves the skill to get the kill. If you are that kind of player, lose the habit or you will never win unless you learn how to carry. If you steal kills from your experienced friend, you will most likely lose and not have a chance to learn how to carry because if you’re stealing the kills, you can’t learn from your friend who would have had a chance to carry with the gold from the kills that have been stolen by you.

“My Way Or The Highway Playstyle”

This is the kind of new player who absolutely will not listen to the experienced friend about the right thing to do. This also may be the type that follows a guide 100%, good or bad guide. If you are this type of player, drop this habit or you will never excel because the best way to learn is to learn from your friend. When you play alone(after your friend teaches you how to play of course) you can learn if your friend actually helped you or if your old way of playing was actually superior. I have to admit I have a friend like this and it’s really hard to teach him how to play.

How I Learned To Play
Before I started playing LoL, I had been a casual DotA player. I never played in any leagues, but I remember the day I got my icon and was finally able to get into Clan TDA channel. I played only in Clan TDA games so I’d say I wasn’t the average pubber, but I also wasn’t the best player in the game.

Ok, the way I learned how to play is what I like to call the “Clutch or Cut” way to teach. Basically it means, do decent or I will never play with you until you can do decent. That’s not really a way of teaching your friend how to play because it could make him quit. It didn’t make me quit though because I’m very competitive. Basically, my friend pretty much acted like he didn’t want me to play with him until I was decent. I did not play with him again until I was level 30. Because I was mad that my friend said that I was terrible, (I hate when people tell me that by the way) I wanted to get good enough to show that I was better than him. Because I have had past DotA experience, it was pretty easy for me because I had learned that you must have knowledge of how to play every single role. In the end, I duo queue ranked with him all the time now, and I’m still not ranked in 5v5, but we’re pro in 3v3!
